Internet Economy Summit 2016 (13 April) - FREE for WTIA members

Organized by the Government  of HKSAR, the Summit will take place in Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre at 13 April. The inaugural Internet Economy Summit explores the future development and strategies on the Internet Economy, featuring topical issues such as global economy powered by the Internet, global technology trend, “Internet +”, Internet-led economic growth in the Mainland and beyond, data-driven economy and opportunities of Internet of Things. For agenda of the Summit, please click hereFor registration, please click here.


Moreover, a networking reception will be held in 5-6pm during the Summit. The reception will be hosted by Mr Benjamin Chau, Deputy Executive Director, HKTDC. Participation is now available for WTIA members on a first-come-first-served basis. Forum: The Next Wireless Innovation (15 April)

THE NEXT BIG WIRELESS INNOVATION IS COMING! In the next 5 years, there will be a wave of big changes shaping a new landscape of how we live and do business. Unwiring our future with more connectivity and less cables means that our lifestyle, health and work will be made much more mobile and convenient, even life-changing. We would look at how wearables, virtual reality, big data and different fintech systems will revolutionize the way we live, work, and play. 


The Wireless Innovation has also made a big impact on how we do business. The concept of Retail 4.0 advocated by McKinsey promotes the use of omni-channel strategy like O2O, e-commerce, big data and the latest wireless technologies like mobile internet, mobility, NFC, Bluetooth, WiFi and mobile wallets to make a better future for traditional retail industry. The Retail 4.0 concept completely transforms retail from a brick-and-mortar to click-and-mortar.

Cyberport Career Fair 2016



12 March

WTIA conducted a panel entitled "Career Confidential: What Your School Didn't Teach You About Landing, Keeping, & Excelling at a Job” in Cyberport Career Fair 2016. Speakers including Lauren Gilbert from Linkedin, Keith Li from Innopage, Keith Tsa from Apptask/Teamnote and Peter Choi from Palapple shared a significant number of tips and advice for job seekers at the career fair as well as common blunders to avoid.

WTIA Mission Tour to Taiwan Smart City



21-24 March  
The Mission Tour to Taiwan Smart City was successfully held on last month. The delegation visited 2016 Smart City Summit & Expo in Taipei, Gogoro, Google Taipei, Department of Information Technology of Taipe, and etc. The delegation explored how Taipei is turning itself into a smart city, by adopting latest technology including IoT and LoRa™. Much gratitude to all the parties once again for making this Mission Tour astounding!

“Building up Wi-Fi.HK through Collaboration” Pledging Ceremony

31 March

To further advance Hong Kong’s position as a highly connected city in the world, the Government plans to double the number of “Wi-Fi.HK” hotspots to 34,000 within 3 years.The  Ceremony was held to promote the “Wi-Fi.HK” brand further to raise public awareness of the brand and to encourage more public and private collaboration in providing more free Wi-Fi hotspots. Dr. David Chung, the Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology and other officiating guest joined the ceremony.
