The Annual Brisbane Luncheon was held for the first time on a Friday at the lovely Hillstone St Lucia and was another successful event for the Australian Ireland Fund both socially and financially. The highlight of the lunch included the panel discussion involving H.E. Noel White in his last official engagement for the Fund, Chairman John O'Neill AO and former Wallaby and Fox Sports pundit Tim Horan discussing all things, Irish, football and sports. The discussion was expertly managed by Catherine Murphy who kindly performed the role of MC at the lunch.

A message from the Integrated Education Fund Ireland
| |
On this day 35 years ago, 28 brave students arrived at the opening of Lagan College under armed guard, despite great opposition from many quarters. Lagan was the first planned integrated school in Northern Ireland. Today, almost 1300 students and over 150 staff arrive at Lagan College for their first proper day of the school year. They would not be where they are now without the hard work, determination and perseverance of the founding parents, supporters, staff, students, governors, financial backers, All Children Together, and everyone involved with the foundation of Lagan College. This year two more schools will also officially join the Integrated Movement - Killyleagh Integrated Primary School and Loughries Integrated Primary School - two schools that have chosen to transform to integrated status as a result of successful parental ballots. The IEF will support them on this equally brave and courageous journey. From the original school and the first 28 children we are proud that there are now 65 integrated schools, with over 23,000 pupils, across Northern Ireland. Thank you for all your support in helping us to help integrated schooling to keep growing! | |
