It's Innovation if you Lead It, Disruption if you Don't

With so much change everywhere, you must step to the forefront to lead. Otherwise you recede into the background quickly. Even so leadership is not what it used to be.

Leadership used to mean privileged knowledge, massive resources and the ability to set the pace. Today leadership is a willingness to live at the uncertain forefront with an unwavering focus on the future, the drive to see clearly even when you cannot, and a relentless insistence on contribution.

Will you focus your sights on what is coming, emerging from the thick fog of possibility? Or will you aim for a known destination even though it is clear it no longer puts you out front? It depends, doesn't it? In some areas you don't need to be first or in a leadership position. In others you do because it's part of who you are. May you have the wisdom to know the difference.

How will you lead this week? What new insights will you harvest for the benefit of those who depend upon you for guidance?

When you can't make them see the light, make them feel the heat.
